Trail Update

So the weather decided not to cooperate and dropped to 40 below last week, man it was cold. I had planned to go out last Friday, but at -35 below decided to wait another day. Alan and I went out on Saturday and the temps weren’t to bad, maybe -15 below when started out, but more »

OK, so now we have an island that houses the only known Island caribou being killed off by 7 wolves. The courts won’t let the state Fish and Wildlife kill the wolves, so if more »

Gearing up for summer

So now that all the snow is gone its time to gear up for summer. This includes moving all my survival gear from my sled bags (on sled and backpack) to my ATV bag. I don’t carry a backpack when I’m ATVing, but maybe I should, something to consider in case I have to walk more »

Its Spring…..

Too bad we don’t have 5 more feet of snow to go with it. The Iron Dog was a rough race this year. Rohn (a small community in Alaska) was literally down to dirt, no snow and it did its worst to lots of sleds. Overheating and rough trail really knocked everyone out this year. more »
