So the weather is nice and we all have Caribou tags to fill. Normally I’d go up to Rosebud in the Chena Rec area, but that is in zone 1 and was closed while Trish and I were at the cabin in Dec. So Dean, Dave, Jake and I decided to go into the White Mtn’s and up to Windy Gap to find some Bou. Well, our tags are still unfilled and my freezer is getting low.

Unsuccessful Caribou Hunt
Share on FacebookThis is the second trip for Bou this year and both times were unsuccessful. Oh, well, hopefully I’ll get another try, but regardless it was a great trip, much better than the first one. The first trip was from 57 mile Elliott Hwy and we only made it about 12 miles into what was suppose to be a 35 mile one way run, when we ran into some major weather, a nice ground storm that turn everything into white out conditions, so we turned backed figuring safety was better than valor as it were.
This time we made it to Windy Gap, but the Bou didn’t agree to be there when we were. So we had a nice 70-75 mile ride for the day.
