Caribou, Mondo Burgers, and Iron Dog

It’s Monday and I’m already whipped. Started the weekend riding with Destiny’s bow (Cody) and his dad (Rod) to try and get them a caribou for their freezer. So Rod says I know this area we can get into zone 2 of the Caribou registration hunt. Remember, I already filled mine and Trish’s tags in more »

Tanana Flats, Feb 9th

Flat light and a great ride in the Tanana Flats. Started out with 18 sleds for the run into the Flats and up to Clear Creek Butts with Paul leading. Although this ride had scheduled Larry as our leader, Paul lead and kept us all from getting lost on the trails. Share on Facebook

Gilmore Trail to Chena Lakes

This was one of the most versatile trail rides I’ve been on in a long time. Eight of us started out from the pull out at 4 mile Gilmore Trail Road around 10:15 in the morning. Plan was to see if we could make it to Chena Lake’s without 1) getting lost or 2) having more »

Starting work on the Iron Dog Trail

Being close to the end of January I figured it was time to start working on the Iron Dog trail and spent my day off setting the track from the Tanana to the Chena River. This is really a short section of the trail, maybe 6 miles, but I also have to set up the more »

Two Rivers to Chatanika Lodge

What a great day it was for a run to Chatanika Lodge and a nice lunch. Although the temps in town were -18 to -20 below zero, it was a cozy -3 below at Two Rivers Elementary School when we all meet up at 10:00 AM. Share on Facebook

57 Mile Steese into the White Mountains, Jan 12, 2013

Beautiful day for a ride with the temps in the upper teens to lower 20’s, couldn’t ask for anything better, well maybe a bit more snow would of been nice, especially in the upper elevations were what snow we did get was pretty windblown. A 17 minute video of different segments of the ride. Share more »

Caribou Hunting January 2013

New Year’s Day and I figured it was time to see if I could harvest some meat for the freezer to get us through the year, at least until next September when Moose season opens again. On Monday, the 31st Dec I stopped by the Fish and Game office and got my winter Moose tag more »

Chena Lakes and Rosebud

The weather was holding nice at a -10 below or warmer so I decided to take a run on Wed, Dec 26th, out to Chena lakes. I also wanted to chat with John Schakley, the head ranger as he is retiring as of the 31st. John’s been a ranger at the lakes for 26 years more »

First real ride of the seaon

Finally got my first real ride of the season, I say first real ride as my November run down south of Cantwell was a disappointment with no snow. I did get to the cabin and get the roof on, but we should of taken the ATV’s instead of the sleds. All the FST club rides more »
