Mothers Day and Wood Cutting

Posted by on May 10, 2011

Yup, more wood cutting. Plan is to have all the firewood for next season in by the end of May so I can concentrate on cabin building. Anyway, here’s a couple pictures of the log skidder.

Sunday was Mothers day and Melissa came over with her bow and the kids as well as Cammie and Jake, our neighbors. I cooked up some steaks on the grill and since we had 8 of them to do up I decided to use the larger BBQ. Now if I’d of been thinking I’d have checked it out and maybe even cleaned it before lighting the darn thing. We haven’t used the large BBQ in a year or more and the first thing to go (up in flames that is) was the residual grease and ash from prior uses. So now my nice new deck has been officially broken in and it didn’t burn down as we were beginning to think it might. Since I just finished staining it the day before and yes I used an oil based stain and yes flaming pieces of ash and grease were falling down on it. Thanks to Shawn getting me cups and cups of water to put out the fire with, all worked out fine.
