Club Rides and Cabin Trip

The weekend before Thanksgivings FST had a planned run from Nordale to Chatanika Lodge. Lots of snow and a decent trail. Stoney was our ride leader and did a good job leading until he delegated that job to me. Actually enjoyed it, breaking fresh snow and making first track. We did get turned around a more »

Crazy Weather

The good news is that it wasn’t very cold during the power outage. Of course that is all relevant to whatever one is use to, I figure 20 degrees above zero is a decent temp to lose power under. The temps did drop to a chilly -30 to -40 below zero this past week, but more »

If it don’t kill ya, it makes you stronger

Or so the saying goes. The way this month, August 2013, has gone I’m hoping there’s truth in those words. The septic system is done and all I have left to do is grade the yard so I can seed it next year and get a final photo of the grade to complete my report more »

Poop Deck or My Septic System

After 30 some years of functioning quite well our septic system decided it was time to give up the ghost as it were. Around the 1st of the month (Aug 2013) we lost our use of the toilet, shower, and sinks. Fortunately we had the RV and I set it up as a temporary restroom more »

Fourth of July, 2013

Fourth of July this year was a no fireworks event due to the extreme dry weather and fires. As of the time of this post the fire has grown to over 79,000 acres and evacuation notices have been issued for residence along the Chena Hot Springs Road area. But of course this is off topic, more »

Father’s Day 2013

Great weekend, we finally made it into the Nome Creek area for a weekend of camping and ATVing. BLM got the approaches to the Nome Creek Bridge fixed so folks could cross the creek to the established camp grounds, but heck, who wants to camp there, I much prefer finding a spot along the creek more »

Memorial Weekend

So we took the motorhome out for the first time this summer and it was a great trip. Drove down to the Donnelly Dome area (shown on GP track map) and meet up with a half dozen or more FST members who did the same switch we did from snowmachine to ATV. Some pictures to more »
